Jan C.

Keyboards/Vocals

Jan C. received her formal musical training on full scholarship at the University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music. As a professional musician, she has served as vocalist, pianist, coach, accompanist, arranger, musical and staging director, spokesperson, actress, and make-up designer with numerous theatrical companies and organizations, and has produced, directed, and performed a variety of shows aboard the Delta Queen, Mississippi Queen, and Showboat Majestic Riverboats, as well as throughout the Cincinnati Tri-State area. Most recently Jan served as Co-Founder and Artistic Director of the Stoughton Opera Company, as well as Owner, Music Director, and Pianist for the Cabaret on Main dinner theater near Madison, Wisconsin.

Jan’s interest in popular music began in her hometown of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and led to a tour of the United States and Europe with the Continental Singers. Soon after, she toured and recorded with a local band called The Joyful Noise, and after moving to Cincinnati, she toured Russia and Poland and recorded with the Cincinnati Singers. Jan’s “brushes with fame” include: opening for Andre Crouch; singing the National Anthem for the Cincinnati Bengals; sharing the stage with Jerry Orbach, Lynne Redgrave, and Judy Kaye; entertaining Nick Clooney, Justino Diaz, Eric Kunzel, Marge Schott, Anton Coppola, and President Ronald Reagan; being directed by Dona Vaughn (of All My Children); and working with Chad Mitchell (of the Chad Mitchell Trio), Greg Proccacino (of the movie Milk Money), and Broadway stars Pamela Meyers and Faith Prince.

Since her return to the Waterloo area, Jan has been teaching music classes at Hawkeye Community College, and serving as pianist and Entertainment Director for the Elks Lodge. She particularly enjoys performing with the Other Band whenever possible.
